Sharon Jones The DapKings

Daptone has announced a new collection of previously unreleased covers by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings called Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Rendition Was In). The posthumous release is due out October 23, almost four years since Sharon Jones died at 60 from pancreatic cancer. The first offering from the LP is a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.” Check it out below.

The LP features covers of songs by Dusty Springfield, Janet Jackson, Shuggie Otis, the Marvelettes, Prince, and Woody Guthrie, whose song “This Land Is Your Land” is exclusive to the album’s digital edition. It’s the band’s second release since Jones’ death, following 2017’s Soul of a Woman.
